The chip plays 10 channels in parallel (8 analog, 2 digital) and records12 channels in parallel (8 analog, 2 digital, 2 monitoring).  The twomonitoring channels result from mixing together the other 20 channels.
This is not the usual hardware mixing scenario because we don't haveseveral independent stereo streams, and the mixing result does not goto the speaker outputs.
