ATI HD 3450 no mixer using snd-hda-intel

I'm using a Powercolor ATI HD 3450 with HDMI output. After much tinkering I've finally gotten ALSA to recognize my sound card, however when I run alsamixer there are no sliders and my only option is to mute or unmute IEC958.  aplay errors out as well. I've tried alsa-driver-1.0.17, 1.0.18rc3, and git snapshot 1.0.18rc3.2.gdbae2.84.g7b722. Any help would be great. I've looked through the forums, and the mailing list and haven't really found anything. If there's no quick fix, I'd be willing to test whatever you can trhow at me. It's just a media box, and the motherboard has a built in soundcard which I've disabled right now, but I can use it if needed. I would like audio and video over HDMI however.
