Nope.  Didn't work.  Even tried pcm.!default iec958

 

Does anyone on the list have a Diamond xtreme 7.1?  or this chipset?

Hey Eric,

 

here is the solution I use with the Audigy 2 ZS sound card:

In ~/.asoundrc or asound.conf write only this line

 

pcm.!default spdif

 

restart Alsa

Now all the "default sounds" will go to the spdif output.

hope this will fix your problem
