capturing from mixer device

Hello all,

on my good old Soundblaster live, I could use commands like:

amixer cset name="Capture Source" 5

to capture from the mixer. Sometimes this was useful.
Recently I installed 2 new computers, one with a card identified as
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia, and one with a
card identified as 00:0d.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB
Audigy LS.

from the 'amixer contents' output it looks as if this feature is missing
from these newer chips.

Has something changed in the way I need to do this, or is there no
hardware mixer available in those newer chips, or am I simply missing
simething?

Kind regards,

Henk.
