Re: Delta 44 slow playback

Hi Juan

I've been using a Delta 1010 for a few years and prior to that a delta 66, I've never had these issues. ALSA seems to allow playback of any file and it will control the cards output rate. I never really touch that setting at all regardless of the sample rate of the file.

When using Jack these issues can occur but that is because jackd is forcing the playback rate. Most of the time I use Jackd either at a fixed 96k or 44.1k setting on this system.

I currently use Ubuntu Studio (64 bit) for my production system and Gentoo Pro-Audio overlay for dev...and I also have used 64studio without this problem?

Can you upload or send a file that you are trying to play to see if I can reproduce your problem?

cheers

Allan

Hello List,

I'm on 64studio 2.1 using a Delta 44 and not getting playback at the
proper speed using ALSA. Setting different sample rates in the ENVY24
control increases or decreases playback speed when playing files via
Amarok or Audacity. 48000 is close to where it should be, but still too
slow; 44100 is extremely slow; 88200 is extremely fast and choppy, etc.
Recording and playback is perfect though when I'm using the card with
Ardour/Jack. I've disabled my mb's onboard sound device and even
increased the PCI latency setting in my BIOS.

I'm not sure what else to do. Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance

Juan
