how to run jackd on a only-48k-card at 44.1?

hi all

i am not quite sure, if this is the right place to ask, but from what i
heard, alsa is capable of doing resampling, when needed (e.g when
playing a 44.1 file on a card, that natively only runs at 48k).

however, i seem not to be able to use those capabilites, when running
jackd. no matter with what specified rate i start jackd, it is always
running at 48k. for doing some recordings (only from software, no live
input) i would really like to run jackd at 44.1k. when playing a 44.1
file with 'mplayer -ao alsa', it works fine, the streams seams to get
resampled at some point.

how can that be achieved with jackd output/input?

my specs:
ubuntu hardy
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.16.
Compiled on May 29 2008 for kernel 2.6.24-18-rt (SMP)
jackd 0.109.2

thanks
roman
