Hello,
I am trying to get AC3 passthrough via SPDIF working with Xine, but having a hard time. Currently, my setup works when playing two channel audio to the device 'plughw:0,1' (my SPDIF device is device 1 on card 0)) -- I can use Speaker-test, play MP3's, and play DVD's in Stereo, all with excellent sound quality.
However, when enable passthrough to plughw:0,1 or the iec958 device, I hear no sound at all. Using aplay with a Dolby Digital test sound also doesn't produce any output.
I have tried a number of /etc/asound.conf files listed on SPDIF howtos, but none seem to allow for passthrough playback (so I currently don't have one installed). Any suggestions are appreciated.
Some info about my system: (Gentoo, Kernel 2.4.23-r9, Alsa 1.0.16)
