How to switch to ALSA?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I have an older version of a Knoppix liveCD (knoppix 3.4, kernel 2.4.26) that I remastered to compact flash. Due to the labor of the CF install, updating to a newer version of knoppix (or newer kernel) is not an option.

It is using the OSS sound system but I believe it has a trimmed down version of ALSA installed also.

I want to switch to ALSA for the latest version of flash.

What steps would I take to check to see if ALSA is installed, how can I switch to ALSA, and if ALSA isn't installed, how hard would it be to install ALSA to this system?

Thanks!
