SOLVED: VIA 82xx chip & snd_hda_intel no sound and codec is Generic 1106 ID1708?

Hi!

I managed to fix the problem with the VIA 82xx chipset on the Amilo
La1703 Laptop from Fujitsu Siemens.

I stumbled across the Gentoo Wiki with info on how to compile a kernel
with ALSA support and they mentioned there that there was a kernel
branch called Zen, that have proved useful with HDA Intel problems.

I thought Id share the links with the nice ppl on the ALSA user list
in hopes that it might solve someone else's problems with VIA and HDA
Intel.
