Proble with sound output on Aureon 7.1

Hi All

I'm having a problem with the speakers attached to an Aureon 7.1 Space sound card (if it makes any difference these work fine under Windows XP), I can only get sound from the front two speakers and nothing from the 7.1 set-up. This machine is a Dell Dimension 8400 with the onboard sound disabled in the BIOS and I've also tried with the boot option pci=routeirq both of those made no difference. This PC is running openSUSE 10.3 with the latest Alsa installed.

I'm not too hot on debugging sound problems in Linux and I've tried as many options and debugging tips as I could find but still no joy. Any pointers to a resolution would be great. :)

I also seem to have a problem with the volume settings not being saved, if I run alsactl save it runs OK but the restore gives the following error:

alsactl restore
alsactl: set_control:1300: incompatible field type for control #1
alsactl: set_control:1300: incompatible field type for control #53

If anyone needs more info please let me know and the following is the debugging scripts output I've produced so far:
