Hi alsa-users! I have an old laptop with an ESS 1688, which is working with snd_es1688. The following setting was used to load it: # modprobe snd_es1688 index=0 port=0x220 mpu_port=0x330 irq=5 dma8=1 mpu_irq=9 I have two problems with it: 1. The recording level is reset to 100% whenever I quit alsamixer, or starting a new recording. The only way to control it seems to be to a. start alsamixer b. start a new recording c. set the recording level appropriate Any hints on what I can try here? 2. I cannot use the card in full duplex mode. Is this card able to do full duplex as other SB16 cards? I understand that SB16 cards can do full duplex under the following conditions: * The record and playback sample rate must be equal * one of the two must operate in 8-bit mode and the other in 16-bit mode. So, does that apply to the ESS 1688 also? When I tried to do full duplex under this conditions I didn't succeed. Here is the output of an ecasound-session: (eca-chainsetup) Audio object "old-track.wav", mode "read". (audio-io) Format: u8, channels 2, srate 44100, interleaved. (eca-chainsetup) Audio object "alsahw", mode "read". (audio-io) Format: s16_le, channels 2, srate 44100, interleaved. ERROR: Connecting chainsetup failed: "Enabling chainsetup: AUDIOIO-ALSA: Unable to ... open ALSA-device for playback; error: Device or resource busy" kind regards, -- Hans Ekbrand (http://sociologi.cjb.net) <hans@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Q.
