Hello list, upon fiddling with my ALSA config and through the conversation with Adam Nielsen I encountered that when using the OSS kernel driver emulation for ALSA (i.e. not the userland "aoss" emulation) the profile which is stored in /etc/asound.conf is ignored. This seems logical, as kernel access to the filesystem is kind of hard to realize. However, when looking into a recent kernel (2.6.23.13) config, there is the following option present: CONFIG_SND_PCM_OSS_PLUGINS: OSS PCM (digital audio) API - Include plugin system which yields the following description: > If you disable this option, the ALSA's OSS PCM API will not support conversion of channels, formats and rates. It will behave like most of new OSS/Free drivers in 2.4/2.6 kernels. However, on my system - although I have this option activated - OSS ignores the asound.conf files. Is there some magic to it to make it work?
