It's nice in that the microphone preamp feeds into the card. So you can choose any preamp. But it doesn't have it's own preamp(s), so that's extra ca$h out of pocket. But when you consider that a great preamp can run $2,500. And that a $50 per channel builtin preamp probably wont suit your needs, it's an acceptable cost.
