Sorry If I have not made clear the point that, under OS X, everything runs smooth. Therefore, by means of software, I am certain that this can be worked out.

Unfortunately, with HDA intel it is the vendor of the computer.  The
design allows every OEM to wire up the sound on every model in a
different and incompatible way.

The OP should file an alsa bug report.
