Of late on my main [Fedora 7] box (I don't know for how long), pretty much any ALSA-based app. (audacious, xmms, etc.) gives the following error: ALSA lib pcm.c:2106:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_empty.so Has anyone got a clue as to what this is about? Some audio things do work, like MythTV, audacity (editor), but I don't know how they're accessing the sound subsystem. ISTRT I had to set up mplayer to use esd (maybe oss) to function. I've re-installed the alsa-lib RPMs (and even rebuilt them myself), and any other seemingly related alsa package to no avail. I've also had a rummage through the code (pcm.c) but I can't see where it might be getting the "empty" from; it feels like a rogue setting somewhere, but I've tried moving my system and custom asound/alsa files out of the way and it didn't seem to help. -- [neil@fnx ~]# rm -f .signature [neil@fnx ~]# ls -l .signature ls: .signature: No such file or directory [neil@fnx ~]# exit ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
