Tnx for the info. I will never need MIDI, so that's surely not 
a problem for me. :-)

Do you happen to know whether the coax digital I/O are transformer 
coupled?

An easy way to tell could be to check with a DVM (set to read out 
continuity or a low ohm range) whether or not the "ground" of the 
SPDIF I/O RCAs are connected to each other and/or analogue grounds.

If they're transformer coupled (and the card properly designed), 
for DC they should be insulated from each other as well as from 
any other ground (no ground loops to mess things up...).
