Thanks for posting the additional info. I'm not familiar with hda-intel cards, apart from the fact that they are problematic due to there being so many variations of them. I looked in ALSA-Configuration.txt, and the ALC278 codec isn't there, but perhaps your notebook is a very new model. Hopefully someone on the alsa user list will see this latest info, and offer some suggestions. All the best.
