I have a Tascam US-122 USB soundcard on a newish Abit AN-M2 (nForce4) using both ArchLinux 64bit and Kubuntu 32bit distros with a 2.6.22 kernel. Onboard MCP67 (snd_hda_intel) audio seems fine but audio in and out the snd_usb_usx2y driver is distorted. I've tried nrpacks=1 which is the only tweak I could find by Googling. A 32bit ArchLinux install on an older machine with the same kernel is (always has been) just fine with this US-122 external soundcard. I thought it may have been a 64bit problem but the 32bit Kubuntu install is the same so the main difference is the mainboard and SMP CPU. I think all systems have ALSA 1.0.14. Would anyone have any suggestions how to solve, or diagnose this problem further ? 00:07.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP67 High Definition Audio (rev a1) 00:02.0 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 055e (rev a2) 00:02.1 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 055f (rev a2) Bus 003 Device 002: ID 1604:8007 Tascam US-122 Audio/Midi Interface 0 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia HDA NVidia at 0xfe020000 irq 21 1 [USX2Y ]: USB US-X2Y - TASCAM US-X2Y TASCAM US-X2Y (1604:8007 if 0 at 003/002) usbcore 132144 6 snd_usb_usx2y,snd_usb_lib,usbhid,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd 20: 317 261929 IO-APIC-fasteoi ohci_hcd:usb4, eth0 21: 241 269964 IO-APIC-fasteoi ohci_hcd:usb3, HDA Intel 22: 195 131804 IO-APIC-fasteoi ehci_hcd:usb2, nvidia 23: 52 25045 IO-APIC-fasteoi ehci_hcd:usb1, ahci --markc ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
