Well, I recently purchased an HP DV9580us, which happens to have the
same sound card of yours.

All I did to get it working was getting the latest alsa-driver
alsa-kernel and alsa-utils repositories from Mercurial, compiled and
installed everything. Now it works (except for the mike).

Make sure your modules are being installed to the correct kernel
(check /lib/ dir)
