Alsa not working on HP Pavillion dv6565us laptop under Fedora 7

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi, gang. I've got the laptop mentioned in the subject line. Alsa
loads up and doesn't whine, but I get no output (alsamixer has
everything enabled and turned up). Also, there are no inputs displayed
in alsamixer (just "Master" and "PCM"). There are two built-in
speakers, with two headphone jacks in the front. Next to those is a
"mic in" jack next to them.

The LED on the touch panel is red (indicating muting). At boot, it's
blue (indicating not muted), but as soon as udev fires up, it goes red.

The system is a fully up-to-date Fedora 7 running on an Intel duo-core
(x86_64). Kernel is 2.6.22.1-41.fc7. All Alsa components are 1.0.14-1.

Hope that's enough info to (at least) get started troubleshooting. Any
hints would be most useful to me. This laptop seems to work fairly
well except for this little glitch and I'd sure like to get it sorted.

Thanks, gang!
