Here is Dave Cross's /etc/modprobe.conf.

<quote>
Here's my current modprode.conf

alias scsi_hostadapter ata_piix
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 uhci-hcd
alias eth1 e100
options snd cards_limit=8
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=0
alias snd-card-7 snd-usb-audio
options snd-usb-audio index=7

This works fine with kernel-2.6.21-1.3194.fc7 but doesn't work with
kernel-2.6.22.1-27.fc7.

In both cases this is with alsa-lib-1.0.14-0.4.rc3.fc7 (which seems to
be the most recent version released to the official Fedora yum
repositories).
<end quote>

Nothing special above, apart from the fact that he seems to have had no
problems in getting sound from his intel card with FC6, and Fedora 7 using
kernels earlier than 2.6.22.1-27,fc7 that use alsa 1.0.14rc3.

No sound though using kernel 2.6.22.1-27.fc7 using alsa 1.0.14.

Looking again at Dave's comments above, I see that his alsa-lib is "rc3".
Could there be perhaps some conflict between his alsa-lib, and the alsa
1.0.14 driver that comes with kernel 2.6.22.1-27.fc7, and might explain why
he has no sound using this kernel?

Just a shot in the dark.

Nigel.
