2. But I was cautious about assuming that this card is only 4-channel,
because I know that some cmi9739 cards can turn their input jacks into
output jacks. This card has two stereo inputs, and two stereo outputs
- if I could turn the inputs into outputs, I could get 8-channel (7.1)
output!

I guess this results in a slightly different question - how do I know
whether my inputs can be changed into outputs?
