Since 2.6.22-rcX no amplifier switch anymore

Hi!

I have a Dell Latitude D810 with the following soundcard:
00:1e.2 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC’97 Audio Controller (rev 03)

The alsa module is snd_intel8x0.

Until kernel 2.6.21 I had a switch to disable the internal amplifier, so that I would only had sound if I had connected a headphone.

Since kernel 2.6.22-rcX (ALSA v1.0.14) this switch is gone. This means I have to mute the master channel if I don’t want to hear anything from the speaker, and have to unmute it if I want to use the headphone.

Why was this changed?

Shade and sweet water!

	Stephan
