Hi I'm having some trouble getting sound working on a Yamaha YMF-724F card. I'm getting no sound, even though alsaconf detects the card and loads the modules. I'm running debian etch (alsa 1.0.13, but I've also tried 1.0.14rc4 with no luck). I ran alsaconf which detected my Yamaha Corporation YMF-724F [DS-1 Audio Controller] (rev 03) which is correct. But once alsconf is done it returns: amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device Saving the mixer setup used for this in /var/lib/alsa/asound.state. /usr/sbin/alsactl: save_state:1254: No soundcards found... On boot I get dmesg|tail: AC'97 0 access error (not audio or modem codec) ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:0d.0 disabled Yamaha DS-1 PCI: probe of 0000:00:0d.0 failed with error -13 gameport: kgameportd exiting PCI: Enabling device 0000:00:0d.0 (0000 -> 0002) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:0d.0[A] -> Link [LNKD] -> GSI 15 (level, low) -> IRQ 15 AC'97 0 does not respond - RESET AC'97 0 access error (not audio or modem codec) ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:0d.0 disabled Yamaha DS-1 PCI: probe of 0000:00:0d.0 failed with error -13 lsmod| grep -i snd snd_ymfpci 57472 0 gameport 14632 1 snd_ymfpci snd_ac97_codec 83104 1 snd_ymfpci snd_ac97_bus 2400 1 snd_ac97_codec snd_pcm_oss 38368 0 snd_mixer_oss 15200 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 68676 3 snd_ymfpci,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_opl3_lib 9920 1 snd_ymfpci snd_hwdep 8836 1 snd_opl3_lib snd_page_alloc 9640 2 snd_ymfpci,snd_pcm snd_mpu401_uart 8064 1 snd_ymfpci snd_seq_dummy 3844 0 snd_seq_oss 28768 0 snd_seq_midi 8192 0 snd_seq_midi_event 7008 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi snd_seq 45680 6 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_timer 20996 4 snd_ymfpci,snd_pcm,snd_opl3_lib,snd_seq snd_rawmidi 22560 2 snd_mpu401_uart,snd_seq_midi snd_seq_device 7820 6 snd_opl3_lib,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq,snd_rawmidi snd 47012 13 snd_ymfpci,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_opl3_lib,snd_hwdep,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device soundcore 9248 1 snd and the device nodes exist in /dev/snd. I'm stuck, this card works fine withe damn small linux 2.3, which uses oss. I've had a very similar (possibly identical) card work with alsa on an other machine, but for some reason I can't get it to work on this machine. Any help would be appreciated, I've been mucking around trying to get this working for a while now. Thanks Liam ___________________________________________________________ The all-new Yahoo!
