Hi! I have huge problems enabling surround on a VIA VT1617A sound card using the ALSA via82xx module. The problem is that i have sound on the front left & right speaker, but nothing on the others (center and rear). The problem is the same when im using analog smart 5.1 (3 mini jacks) or S/PDIF Coax digital out. e.g. when i run: speaker-test -Dplug:iec958 -c6 i hear sound in the two front speakers and nothing i the others. I have followed the guides at the alsa wiki (http://alsa.opensrc.org/Via8233) and several others on google without any luck. I can see various places that i'm not the only one with this problem. Recently i have tried upgrading to the latest kernel (2.6.21.1) and installed the ALSA cvs version without any luck. I have repported a bug on ubuntu launchpad but have never got a reply: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-tools/+bug/110010 Anyone here have a VIA VT1617A audio controller and succeded getting surround to work?
