So what's up with the EMU 0404 Firmware (added in 1.0.14_rc4)

Hi there,

I'd like to know what's the matter with this firmware. I own a EMU 0404
and have been waiting for support of this card since I changed to Linux
*g*. I recently read, a firmware has been added to the latest RC of
ALSA. I downloaded the dirver, firmware, lib, utils, tools and compiled
them against my kernel. Everything loads without problems, except for
the emu10k1 module, as usual. This one fails with a error -5. This has
been like that in every version of Alsa I tested. The EMU 0404 still is
recognized as a SB Audigy 2 Value, that is why it isn't loading any EMU
specific firmware. I tried to force another subsystem but without luck
(It just says "Car d not recognized" -2 in dmesg).

Is the firmware not intended to be used at all right now? Any
Information concering this would be appreciated.

I am running Ubuntustudio 7.04
Kernel 2.6.20-15
alsa 1.0.14_rc4

best regards,

Lennart
