Do you have any other sound card as the audigy as an USB sound card ( a webcam,whatever...)?
What is the output of cat /proc/asound/cards ?
If it is the case, you have to use the index option in alsa configuration:
alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1options snd-emu10k1 index=0alias snd-card-1 snd-usb-audiooptions snd-usb-audio index=1
and add too:options snd cards_limit=2
Note at the index begin with 0 where 0 is the first sound card, and cards_limitis the number of sound cards: 1 is for 1 sound card, 2 for 2, and so on.
