maximum DMA buffer size

Hi all,

According to the changelog of 1.0.14-rc1:
hda_intel: increase maximum DMA buffer size to 1024MB

This buffer is set to 64KB by default and I can raise it to 512KB by:
echo 512 > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/prealloc
This works.

I noticed there is also a /proc/asound/card0/pcm1p/sub0/prealloc,
which is the digital out on the same card.

Do I have to keep these buffers at the same size or doesn't it make
any difference?

And what are the advantages of a bigger buffer?

Regards,

Wouter
