Hi, I'm workingwith a somewhat finicky hda-intel setup on a dell latitude d820. amixer info shows: $ amixer info Card default 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xdfffc000 irq 21' Mixer name : 'SigmaTel STAC9200' Components : 'HDA:83847690 HDA:14f12bfa' Controls : 11 Simple ctrls : 6 The system runs ubuntu edgy/feisty, with all the alsa packages (alsa-utils, alsa-tools, alsa-base) coming from feisty, which uses 1.0.13 sources; the kernel is 2.6.19 with a few non-alsa-related modifications. This card is a little frustrating to deal with, and among other things, the internal mic (listed as 'Mic' in input sources) won't work unless it's first unselected and then reselected in alsamixer. I would like to make a little wrapper script that gets this done form the command line, e.g.: amixer sset 'Input Source' 'Front Mic' amixer sset 'Input Source' 'Mic' skype (since skype is pretty much the only thing I need the internal mic for) but this doesn't seem to work. here's the output: $ amixer set 'Input Source' Mic Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0 Capabilities: enum Items: 'Mic' 'Front Mic' Item0: 'Mic' $ amixer set 'Input Source' 'Front Mic' Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0 Capabilities: enum Items: 'Mic' 'Front Mic' Item0: 'Mic' The value selected doesn't seem to change when I issue the command. Any idea why this might be? The change works fine in alsamixer. thanks much, matt -- Matt Price History Dept University of Toronto matt.price@xxxxxxxxxxx
