Hi, I have a HP dc7700 which uses an intel hda soundcard(ICH8). I managed to get sound to work by upgrading to a 2.6.19 kernel with alsa 1.0.14rc1, but I get sound only from the headphones output on the front of the comp. The comp has three jacks on the back : in, out and mic, and two on the front : headphones and mic. here's lspci's output : 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) loaded modules : snd_hda_intel 21784 3 snd_hda_codec 188544 1 snd_hda_intel snd_pcm_oss 42912 0 snd_mixer_oss 17280 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 76548 4 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_timer 23300 2 snd_pcm snd 53092 10 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 8928 1 snd snd_page_alloc 11016 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm I've also tried loading the snd_hda_intel module with various model= options without success. I also tried to unplug the cable providing audio output to the front panel. Tried various mixer settings unsucessfully. Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
