The char-major-* and sound-* aliases should not be needed on 2.6
kernels.  The snd-* aliases are OK.  Add the following two entries:

  options snd-cs4236 index=0
  options snd-usb-audio index=1

What are the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices?
