All,
I have laptop with an ATI IXP SB400 sound card. The sound didn't work
with the first install of Linux, but I fiddled with the External
Amplifier switch, and a couple of reboots later, I had sound, for a few
weeks.
But now, the sound has "disappeared", and I can't seem to get it back.
Then I updated the kernel to Fedora Core 5's latest, (2.1.18), and
FC5's latest version of ALSA (/proc/asound/version => Advanced Linux
Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.12rc1 (Thu Jun 22 13:55:50 2006 UTC).
With the previous versions, I couldn't echo anything into
/proc/asound/card0/codec97#0/ac97#0-0+regs, (got "no such device"), but
now I can, and it's doesn't make a difference anyway :-(
(I attached a dump of AC97 registers).
I've googled, and seen that register 7a's value could be 2092 or 2090,
but for me it's 8004.
Any clue?
