a little bit ;)
my speakers work after the first reboot after purging alsa-utils and
alsa-base. but after the second they don't give a sound anymore.

have you already tried aplay? on my maschine it always works, even if
all other alsa applications don't want to start.

i know, the results of my problem differ a little bit from yours. but in
my opinion, the solution should be the same.
