CONFIG_SND should be m, for modules. You WANT alsa support.


I put that in my blacklist regardless, but I don't think that is the issue.

If you have udev, hotplug is always running. And udev is the standard these

Sounds like two different sound cards are in contention.

That is not lsmod, but I assume it is all of the entries which start with
snd. ARe there perhaps some old oss modules being loaded as well?
