Hi mark I am interested in contributing to cockpit as well as the various modules it has as well.
Contributions are very welcome! To get started see:

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. We do not do much in regards to Windows/AD. We have synchronization capabilities, but that is it. There are no plans to do anything more than what we have already have. Now our FreeIPA project is much more focused on managing and working with AD.Are there plans for 389 to do something that is equivalent to group policy on windows

Are you aware if there are plans to extend cockpit functionality?Yes, the new Cockpit UI is in its infancy, and it currently only does Administration of the server, not the database content. We are still working on getting all parts of the UI to ReactJS. Once we get the UI into a state we are happy with we will then be looking into doing a LDAP Browser/Editor. To be honest it could be a year from now until it gets done (hopefully sooner), but until then all there is for user management are the tools that William previously mentioned.

Subject: [389-users] Re: adding users to LDAPAs I'm aware today, you can't manage data in backends via cockpit - cockpit just manages the configuration and admin aspects.
Mark will probably comment with more details here,
