On wiki there's a section which describes (more or less) what I'm trying
to achieve. Is it an error or am I misunderstanding this section?

Create a new log pipe file

In this case, you will tell the script to create a new file (e.g.
errors.pipe). You must configure the directory server to use the new log.

Advantage - can use all of the log viewer and analysis tools
    Disadvantage - requires server configuration

TIA
