I was referring to /etc/init.d/dirsrv-admin, which simply fails with no error message. I followed the installation instructions here: http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Download#Enterprise_Linux_5 As I mentioned before, the LDAP server is working great, but the dirsrv-admin is not.
