I want to use chinese font for redhat 5.2 application (XFree86 3.3.5).
In /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias, I find following entry: hanzigb16st "-isas-song ti-medium-r-normal--16-160-72-72-c-160-gb2312.1980-0" hanzigb24st "-isas-song ti-medium-r-normal--24-240-72-72-c-240-gb2312.1980-0" hanzigb16fs "-isas-fangsong ti-medium-r-normal--16-160-72-72-c-160-gb2312.1980-0"
In /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc, I find three files look like chinese font file: gb16fs.pcf.gz gb16st.pcf.gz, gb24st.pcf.gz
But when use xlsfonts, none of them in the list. I can find kanji 16 and kanji 24. And my application already use that, which mean 16 bit font can be used for my application.
How to install chinese font to system ? How to use them in my application ?
It sounds like /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc isn't in your font path. See xset's man page, and the xfs or XF86Config man pages depending on whether or not your are using a font server.
