Dear sir
After installation of Red Hat Linux ver 7.2 and
noticed that the installed package included XWindow, GNOME and KDE I had waited
to start in a .grafic mode. Instead i received the text mode with no connection
to the root, only as local host. After inlogging as such it was impossible
to change to "root". I shut downed the system and this time I used root as
localhostname and the given password and received [root@localhost root]#. As
ordinary user:[nilseric@localhost nilseric]$. Is this Ok? Must I kill the system
to be able to change username?
With the command startx I received:
exeve failed for /etc/X!!/x (error 2)
giving up
xinit:no such file or directory(error 2) unable to
connect to X server
xinit: no such process(error 3):server
error.
The lines given during the installationprocess were
all OK but this:
/lib./modules/2.4.7-10/kernel/drivers/usb/usb-ohcio:insmod
usb-ohci failed.
In /etc I found X11, xinetd.conf resp xinetd.d and
in /usr: X11R86
and several libs..
Can You please help me and solve all my
problems?
Nilseric Hernqvist
