I just finished installing XFree86 in order to comply with the requirements of Google Earth for Linux. I am running Ubuntu Linux 6.06 (Dapper Drake). After I finished installing XFree86, something was changed in GDM, and as a result, whenever I boot normally, I get an error telling me something is wrong with my X Server and it couldn't be started. It gives me an option to view the output. I'd post it here, but this is before normal boot-up, so I have no way yo take a screenshot or copy the output. Anyway, after a few seconds, the command line interface comes up. (This is when booting normally.) However, when I boot into recovery mode, it works semi-well. It boots normally all the way to the login screen. From there, it boots correctly only if I select to boot into one of the failsafe modes. I am currently using GNOME_failsafe. Basically, I need to know either how to a)revert the changes I already made, or b)correct the changes. Please let me know what to do! Thanks!
