This is my problem:
I have a PC with C&T 69000 chipset, X is configured for running at
800x600.
Recently I have updated the kernel from 2.6.8.1 to 2.6.9 and X run only at
640x480 with the new kernel using the same XF86Config-4
I need 800x600 and 2.6.9 kernel, but seem impossible !
Can someone help me ?
In attachment there are kernel configurations, X logs and X configuration.
The driver seems to think you now have a 640x480 panel connected.

Ok, but how i can force the driver to think that i have an 800x600 LCD ?
And why this change with kernel version ?

I am not involved in kernel development and cannot know what kernel change
might have caused this, but, in your shoes, the first thing I'd try is run a CONFIG_FB=n kernel.

In any case, I doubt very much this is an X server problem.

I have compiled a 2.6.9 kernel with FB disabled.
Now the kernel 2.6.9 will work correctly under X
but it is impossible to use console (also during
the boot process) because in console mode the
screen is totaly black.
I can't solve this problem by myself so i ask help
to you.

If your distribution is Red Hat, or a derivative (SuSE, Mandrake, Fedora, etc), then remove any of "rhgb" or "vga=" boot line parameters. This boot line will be found either in /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/grub.conf.

Marc.
