does this file exist? `/etc/X11/XF86Config-4' or `/etc/X11/XF86Config' ? if no such file, then run `XFree86 -configure' as root, then look for `XF86Config.new' in current dir, copy this file into `/etc/X11', and rename it, say: cp XF86Config.new /etc/X11/XF86Cofig-4 restart X. upon any problem , please post both the config file and the logfile.
