You are missing /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a which is a required XFree86 module. It appears that you have an incomplete or corrupted XFree86 installation. I have heard of such problems on RedHat9 (and only RedHat9) before. If the server was running previous, you had a libbitmap.a at one time. I don't know what has been happening to this library on RH9.
