Open APM failed, X-4.5.0/Matrox G200

I get a series of the following lines in my X server log file:

(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device)
(II) Mouse0: ps2EnableDataReporting: succeeded

Sometimes it's just a single set, sometimes there might be 50 sets.
I don't use power management in this desktop machine, so if I could
turn off APM altogether, I'd do it. But the closest option I can
find is this:
	Option "DPMS" "no"
which I have set.

I don't know if the fact that the Mouse0 line accompanies the APM line
means anything, but it seems suspicious.

As far as I can tell, X is working, but I don't like unknown error
messages, and if I can fix them, I'd like to. Also the fact that
sometimes I get a significant number of them seems worrisome

Anyone know how to turn off APM, or know what those Open APM errors
are all about? Do they really have something to do with my mouse???

TIA,

Jim
