it _is_ broken. (was Re: console switching broken on TinyX?)

i've resurrected the XFree86-4.1.0 source used to build the 4.1.0
debian package referred to below, and built it for my PPC device. 
console switching works flawlessly using this build.

i'll be diffing things to see if i see anything suspicious, but
i'm doubtful i will.
