  You are using the wrong driver.  You are using the Matrox driver
but you have an S3 card.  In the /etc/X11/XF86Config file, replace
Driver "mga" with Driver "s3".  I'm under the impression that the
old s3 cards aren't very well supported anymore, but that driver may
still work OK.
