ATI FireGL Mobility T2 with XFree86 4.4.0 or 4.5.0?

Has anyone been able to set up XFree86 4.4.0 or 4.5.0 to work with an  ATI 
FireGL Mobility T2  video card completely problem-free?    I got this 
working with no difficulty using the supplied "radeon" driver but then 
discovered that, in one particular situation, the server always crashes 
signal 11.   It's described in

Anyway, wondering if anyone else has had trouble-free operation with 4.4.0 
or higher and this video card.

On a related subject - does anyone know whether ATI will ever provide a 
version of their proprietary fglrx driver for XFree86 versions 4.4.0 and 
higher?
