getting XFree86-devel

Need:
Two files: libSM.so, and libXpm.so which might be part of XFree86-devel.

For:
I am installing xfce 4.2.0 for XFree86 4.4.0 RC 2 on OpenBSD 3.6. My system is
AMD-K6 3D with 256Mb Ram and 2*2Gb HD

Details:
Xfce is a low overhead desktop. I have pkg_config installed to do my package
handling, but xfce doesn't come as a package for OpenBSD, so I'm using a
graphical installer from os-cillation.org

To complete the install I need to have the libXpm and libSM installed. These
are not present on my local machine. They are also not available from
ftp.openbsd.org. The best guess I have is to download XFree86-devel for RedHat
because these lib files should be included. I went to the ftp site but I can't
find the -devel package.
Help!

Also, another question I have is, "What is a .so file?"?
