Hello all, Normally I am able to find answers to nearly all my problems regarding Debian using Google. But this particular one did not turn out to be one of those cases. First, I am on Debian kernel 2.6.9 on a Dell Inspiron 8600 (a laptop rated as a real Linux-resistant one). I use X window system, and sawfish as the window manager. After many hours of work, there are no known problems other than the one I am about to describe. This problem is rather strange. I have a Logitech 7-button optical USB mouse, that works, but not flawlessly: When I am typing, most key presses move the mouse pointer diagonally across the screen. The amount of movement depends on how long the key press is. The most notorious key in that respect is `t'. It causes a larger movement than other key presses. Some keys, like `q' or `p' or space key do not move the mouse no matter how long they are kept pressed, which is normally what is expected of all keys (unless they are specifically programmed to move the mouse, which is not the case here). This is really annoying, because I like to use the focus following mouse and focus leaves the current window that I am using to type something after typing a few words. So I have to put it back to lower left corner of the window several times before I am done with typing. I have so far investigated if this behavior is dependent on a particular type of window manager or application. It turns out that it is not dependent on either. Any suggestions how to proceed to solve this annoying problem? Thanks in advance for your time.
