I had the same problem in VMWARE with mandrake... 
As you can see in the warning, the default colordepth is set to 16...
wile the colordepth of your host (XP) is set to 24 or 32.
Changing the default colordepth to a higher value (i.e. the same
colordepth as your host) will solve your issue.
